LSW student earns grant to provide sensory tools for elementary students

Lee's Summit West sophomore Jaelyn Roberson partnered with the Pleasant Lea Elementary student council, the A-Plus program and LSPD to create toolkits for students in the classroom.

Jaelyn received $250 provided by the Hershey Global Youth Project. That money helped supply the kits with several sensory and fidget toys to allow students outlets to have the tools to calm down during moments of stress in the classroom. Those kits will be in classrooms at both Pleasant Lea Elementary and Trailridge Elementary.

Jaelyn was inspired to apply for the grant because of her plans post-graduation to study within the field of psychology.
